May 12, 2012: Sanctuary Walk included in 2nd Annual “Migratory Bird Day” Events

The City of Vancouver has designated Saturday, May 12th, 2012 as the 2nd Annual Migratory Bird Day. The Sanctuary in Hastings Park has been chosen to hold one of 5 walks scheduled for that day, and The Hastings Park Conservancy is very excited we have been chosen by the City to lead this particular walk. This event is being co-ordinated by Alan Duncan of the Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation. More information and a schedule of the full day’s events around Vancouver birding spots is here on the Vancouver Parks and Recreation website. There will be additional events around the City involving Bird Studies Canada, Stanley Park Ecology Society, Tourism Vancouver, Nature Vancouver and the Vancouver Public Library.

Note that the Sanctuary walk will meet at the Miracle Mile statue of Roger Bannister and John Landy at the corner of Hastings and Renfrew Streets at 9:45 AM, and the walk will last about 2 hours.
